Franklinton High School, located in Franklinton, Louisiana, is a comprehensive high school serving over 800 students. The high school is an accredited institution by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The current main building at FHS was built in 1986 and at that time housed around 450 students. In 2005 FHS began construction to add much needed classrooms as enrollment began to increase. A new wing of classrooms was added which now houses the ninth grade academy.

In addition to our current classrooms, FHS also has five computer labs, a gymnasium, band hall and MCJROTC facility, agricultural workshops and classrooms, and a new stadium and field house, softball field, baseball field, and four tennis courts. These facilities are also used by the community from time to time to afford opportunities for community activities.

The Washington Parish School district classroom record keeping is uploaded onto OnCourse, an electronic grade book system. This allows parents to access attendance and grades via the Internet, thus increasing the communication possibilities between home and school. This system provided websites for each teacher where parents may contact them concerning student class, grade, or behavior. This website also has valuable information on the class itself, expectations from the teacher, and grading scales and rubrics.

FHS employs a 7 period day with modifications to include English/Reading blocks and Advanced Placement classes, providing diversity in academic approaches as suggested by the faculty and analysis of test data.

Numerous extra-curricular activities are available to students at FHS. Academic clubs such as Beta and the National Honor Society are available by invitation only, dependant upon GPA. Other activities and clubs offered are FFA, 4H, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, Spanish Club, Sign Language Club, Interact, and Student Council. Band, Chorus and the Show Choir (Demonaires), and the Demonette dance line. FHS also has a majorette squad, flag team, cheerleading squad, and a showstoppers performance group.

Franklinton High School prides itself on its successful athletic program. Franklinton High has competitive athletic teams in the sport of football, girls and boys basketball, softball, tennis, golf, track, and girls soccer. The FHS Demon football team placed first in the district in 2009, and runner up to the state 4A title. The Demon boys basketball team qualified for the playoffs after a season in which they finished 4th in district. The Demon baseball team also earned first place district honors in 2010 and went on to host in the first round of playoffs at home. 2009 was also the inaugural season for Lady Demon soccer. Although we did not compete for district honors, we had a very successful season and look forward to compete for district honors in the future.
