The James Heyward Ard Chapter

Of the

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society began in 1921 for the purpose of encouraging these four virtues: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. In 1993, our school applied for a NHS charter. Franklinton High School received this charter on September 17, 1993.
Our chapter bears the name of James Heyward Ard, a young man who exhibited all of the characteristics of NHS. James Heyward Ard was not able to fulfill all of his dreams, his life was tragically taken from us. As each member here strives to maintain the high standards of this organization may they remember the diligence and determination that James demonstrated every day of his life.
